If you’ve got outdoor plans this weekend in the ATL, you might wanna have a rain plan. This weekend, heavy rains are expected to hit the southeast, and you don’t wanna be caught without your umbrella. Keep scrolling to learn more.
Wait… what’s going on?
This weekend, we’re expecting a DOWNPOUR.
According to AccuWeather,
A surge of tropical moisture is expected to bring rounds of drenching thunderstorms across much of the Southeast and mid-Atlantic this weekend, creating flooding threats.

Some reports even state that up to 3 inches of rain is possible, making flooding even more likely.
According to a report by CBS News,
Flash flood watches and warnings may be issued, especially Sunday. A slight risk of excessive rainfall, rated Level 2 of 4, begins Saturday and continues into Sunday.
When is the rain going to hit Atlanta?
Right now, the slow-moving front looks like it’s bringing the rain beginning Friday afternoon. Experts say that the rain should ease up by the end of the day on Sunday, but that there is the possibility of rain into Monday.
Meteorologists note that the threat of severe thunderstorms remains low for right now.
How should I stay safe?

Great question! The best way to stay safe during heavy rain is to stay somewhere indoors, dry and out of the elements. If travel is required, make sure to take it a little slower on the roads and keep your eyes peeled & stay very alert.
If you see standing water, do not drive through it. It might be deeper than you think, or there might be something in it that you can’t see. Driving through flash floods can be extremely dangerous.
