This weekend is your last chance to catch Oakland Cemetery’s signature Halloween tours: Capturing the Spirit of Oakland. So grab your pals and get ready for a super cool trip through one of Atlanta’s most beautiful landmarks.
What is Capturing the Spirit of Oakland?
Capturing the Spirit of Oakland is an annual Halloween event at Oakland Cemetery. This stunning blend of history, theatre, and the allure of an autumn takes place as the sun goes down over the cemetery… setting the stage for the perfect Halloween experience.
Capturing the Spirit allows costumed storytellers to bring the lives of Atlanta’s past residents to life alongside their final resting place as residents of Oakland Cemetery, and is designed to “enlighten rather than frighten.” So don’t worry about being scared–that isn’t the goal of these cemetery tours!
Capturing the Spirit’s 20th anniversary
And this is a special year! For the 2026 season, Oakland is celebrating 20 years of Capturing the Spirit. And that means a special surprise from the Atlanta History Center: Oakland will host The Pink Pig (Priscilla) in the Visitor Center in connection with residents featured on the tour. Visitors can get excited to take home commemorative stickers from the original ride, too!

Here are the super fun 20th anniversary additions to Capturing the Spirit:
- The Essential Atlanta theme, which features residents who are woven into the fabric of Atlanta’s history
- 8 new resident stories throughout the Cemetery
- Artwork from Atlanta artist & printmaker Jamaal Barber
- Pricilla the Pink Pig in the Visitor Center (and the cute stickers from the original ride)

Cost: $45 for adults (ages 13+) and $30 for children ages 3–12
