Thousands of Atlantans were disappointed last year when stormy weather canceled the 15th annual Atlanta Beltline Lantern Parade. But fear not, Atlanta! The Beltline Lantern Parade is coming back this year, and it’s going to be better than ever before. And it’ll happen during its original season. Keep scrolling for all the details!
What is the Atlanta Beltline Lantern Parade?

First introduced in 2010, the Atlanta Beltline Lantern Parade, led by parade curator Chantelle Rytter and the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons, has grown from a few hundred participants to one of Atlanta’s most anticipated annual traditions.
The public is invited to create their own lanterns to walk in the parade or to set up along the route for viewing. Either way, it’s a ton of fun for the whole family!
* Free and paid lantern workshops, led by Rytter and her team, will be announced in the coming months.
When is the Atlanta Beltline Lantern Parade?

Unlike years past, when the parade happens in the spring, this year, the Atlanta Beltline Lantern Parade will take place on Saturday, September 19th, 2026.
Amina Cooper, Atlanta Beltline, Inc.’s Director of Arts & Culture, said in a statement,
The Lantern Parade is a cornerstone of our arts programming and a powerful example of how public art can bring people together. This return to a fall date strengthens the experience for everyone involved, from artists and performers to the thousands who come out each year.
Additional details, including times, parade route, workshop information, will be available soon.
