This exciting trail segment of the Atlanta BeltLine is finally complete, giving Atlantans access to the newly opened Westside Trail on Marietta Boulevard. The official ribbon cutting for this new addition to the BeltLine was today (Tuesday, October 18), marking another important milestone for our looping trail of the city.
CEO of the BeltLine Clyde Higgs said in a statement, “With the support of valuable partnerships like the PATH Foundation, generous funders, and other community partners, we are bringing greater connectivity and mobility to the city.”
He continued, “Westside Trail Segment 3 is a key piece of the puzzle to fulfilling our vision of residents having equitable access to opportunity.”
The new segment passes through the Knight Park/Howell Station neighborhood, finally presenting us ATLiens with long-awaited connectivity to the westside of Atlanta and the connector to Downtown Atlanta, Vine City, and beyond.
Stretching for 1.22 miles, the segment of the mainline BeltLine trail extends from Law Street to Huff Road, running along Marietta Boulevard.
Serving as an incredible infrastructure for hiking, biking, or even a weekend bar-crawl, the BeltLine has become an integeral part of ATL-life, and there seems to be no slowing down on the exciting developments.
The BeltLine will ultimately connect the city to the majority of hotspots around the city, like the Chattahoochee River and Silver Comet Trail, Microsoft Center, as well as the Westside Trail Segment 4, for which construction will get underway in winter/spring 2023.
In other exciting BeltLine news, at the beginning of the year, Art on the Atlanta BeltLine, the largest outdoor, temporary art exhibition in the south, was awarded $40,000 from the City of Atlanta. From spectacular murals to sensational sculptor, the BeltLine remains one of the best places to experience art for free in the ATL.
