How is Atlanta the busiest airport in the world?

As of August 2025, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) holds our position as the World’s Busiest Airport, handling a whopping 5.43 million seats this month.
With data from the Airport Council International, which is the ‘voice of the world’s airports,’ in 2024, ATL saw a total of 108,067,766 passengers.
This massive number of passengers beats out the second busiest airport, Dubai (DXB), which handled 92,331,506 passengers.
