This year, the Atlanta Film Festival celebrates its 45th year with a stellar line-up and COVID-safe screenings.
Celebrating its 45th year, the Atlanta Film Festival is the region’s preeminent celebration of cinema. The organization offers entertainment, networking, education & professional development year-round. The festival itself is one of the largest and longest-running in the region.
This year, there are three ways that Atlantans can experience the festival. In fact, you can have a taste of ATLFF no matter where you are in the world.
Firstly, there’s the at-home experience. There’s an extensive catalogue of content available to watch from the comfort of your own home. So get some microwave popcorn and have a day at the movies at home! If you’re looking to get out of the house, then you could opt for the drive-in experience or the theatre experience.
The drive-in experience allows you to hop in the car and head to one of their two locations (Plaza Drive-in and Plaza @ Dad’s Garage)! Enjoy concessions and the big screen under the stars.
The theatre experience means that we can finally return to the theater thanks to the Atlanta Film Festival. There will be a big screen, cozy socially distanced seating and a variety of concessions for you to enjoy at The Plaza Theatre!
The ATLFF constantly searches for fresh, innovative, and inspiring means of cinema. As one of only two dozen Academy Award-qualifying events in the country, the Atlanta Film Festival showcases nearly 200 films annually to over 27,000 attendees across a ten day event each spring. Each year the Atlanta Film Festival receives over 9,300 submissions from 120+ countries across the globe.
This year, prepare for a stellar line-up, as a much anticipated documentary about former president Jimmy Carter headlines the event. The festival will also be hosting Hamilton star Daveed Digs, a mind-blowing line-up of short films, full length, creative conferences, plus so much more!
Atlanta’s 45th Film Festival will be taking place on April 22nd – May 2nd, 2021.
