The Super Bowl might have taken place in Las Vegas, but every Atlantan watching definitely felt like we were right in the A as soon as Usher came out on stage for the iconic Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Usher’s impressive performance
Donned in a truly iconic white bedazzled suit from Dolce & Gabbana, Usher started his set with “Caught Up,” amidst a dazzling performance that included all kinds of acrobatics and choreography.
With quick, tight choreography, Usher seamlessly moved through his set, and began introducing his star-studded lineup of special guests. First was Alicia Keys, who stunned the audience in her sparkly, red Dolce & Gabbana outfit. The two sang the iconic “My Boo” for an adoring audience.
Then Usher continued the show with “Confessions Part II,” “Burn” and “U Got It Bad,” during which he wore a single glove, which seemed to be a nod to the late Michael Jackson.
Of course one of the best moments of the show was when Usher took off his shirt to reveal his perfect abs. He was joined on stage by H.E.R., who thrilled the audience with her electric guitar solo.
More special guests
Usher didn’t stop there, though. The singer pulled out ALL the stops, with more surprise guest joining him, including Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am for “OMG” and Atlanta-native, Lil Jon, who played his own hit “Turn Down for What.” And the Atlanta cherry on top: Ludacris joined in for the finale: Usher’s truly iconic “Yeah!”
Usher’s choreography also included an incredibly impressive rollerskating number, in which he himself skated the stage while singing. And his dancers were also featured on stripper poles: both of which are incredible nods to the revolutionary culture of the ATL.
Usher and Atlanta
Usher ended his set by chanting, “I took the world to the A. I took the world to the A!” Of course, reminding everyone that ATLANTA is where it’s at.
People Magazine reported that Usher said in a statement, “It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before. Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen.”
If you wanna see Usher yourself, don’t worry, you can! Usher is coming to State Farm Arena in October for three days!
Thanks for taking the world to the A, Usher!
