It might be hard to remember right now, with our boiling hot summer not going anywhere anytime soon, but Atlanta does get cold in the winter, and sometimes, we even get snow. Two years ago, Atlanta had a super fun snow day, and last year, we got flurries as early as November.
So… what about this year? Is it going to snow in Atlanta this winter? Let’s find out. Keep scrolling!
Atlanta’s winter weather predictions

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, Atlanta is expecting a mild, wet winter.
And on top of that, the Almanac predicts a “below normal” amount of snowfall in the area, with “above normal” temperatures. Now, that doesn’t mean it won’t cool off, because it will, but it might not be as bitterly cold as last year.
IF Atlanta sees snow, which is unlikely but not impossible, it will probably come in January or February, like usual.
Weather predictions about El Niño also predict a wetter fall into winter. But more coastal areas will be more affected than a city as far inland as Atlanta.
One of the hottest summers on record

Of course, if you step outside right now, you’ll think that the notion of cold weather (even COOL weather) is absurd! It’s been a particularly hot summer.
In fact, Atlanta News First reported earlier this month,
This year also brought Atlanta’s earliest-ever 90-degree day back in April, almost six weeks earlier than average. On average, the last day with 90-degree weather in Atlanta is Sept. 9. Last year’s final 90-degree day was Sept. 24… Atlanta recorded its hottest start to September in recent record with highs at or above 94 degrees during the first six days of the month.
And it doesn’t seem like it’ll cool off any time soon, either. The forecast is staying in the high 70s and 80s, according to The Weather Channel.
So whether you’re hoping for snow or not… we’ll keep you updated as the weather (finally!!) cools off, Atlanta!
