This Beaver supermoon will be the fourth supermoon in a row–beginning with August’s full moon. Keep scrolling to learn all about this Friday’s supermoon!
Why is it called the Beaver Moon?
Like most full moon names, the Beaver Moon has ties to both Native American and European cultures and folklores. One of the many explanations is that beavers spend November fortifying their dams and stocking their food to prepare for winter, so they’re very active. Another is that November was a common time to trap beavers for their fur, as warmer clothing would come in handy beginning in November.
When is the Beaver Moon’s moonrise?
According to NASA, the Beaver supermoon is expect to begin rising at 4:29pm.
