How can I check for bed bugs?

If you’re taking a trip this summer, and you want to make sure you don’t bring home some… unwanted guests, there are lots of ways to make sure you don’t give a bed bug family a lift back to your house!
- First of all, check for signs of bed bugs anywhere you’re staying: rust-colored stains, shed skins, or live bed bugs. Adult bed bugs roughly the size of an apple seed.
- Check your rental location’s mattress seams, headboard, furniture, deep crevices and corners with a phone flashlight to ensure that there aren’t any bugs there.
- And don’t put your luggage directly on the bed or floor while you inspect the room, just in case.
What do I do if I’ve got bedbugs?

Here’s how Terminix, the exterminating experts, say to handle it:
If you’ve found bed bugs in your home, the first step is to contain the infestation. Avoid moving infested items between rooms, as this can spread the problem. Steer clear of DIY sprays. Many bed bug populations are resistant to over-the-counter products, or they can push them into other areas, making them more difficult to remediate. Acting quickly can help reduce the severity of the infestation while you wait for professional treatment.
Hopefully you don’t have bed bugs, Atlanta… but if you do, Terminix can help you find ’em and get rid of ’em!
