Does Georgia have castles? Now, before you say of course not, you miiiight need to take a closer look. The state of Georgia actually has multiple castles, most of which are hidden away from the public eye. And there’s one castle in particular that grabs our interest: a mysterious, private, hidden castle tucked away in plain sight… just outside of the city: Cagle Castle.
What is Cagel Castle?

Good question. Cagel Castle, or “The Dwarf Castle” is a pink and white marble structure that sits on the intersection of Cagle Road and Arnold Mill Road in Alpharetta, Georgia.
According to Atlas Obscura, a guide dedicated to the “world’s hidden wonders… from ancient relics to roadside oddities,”
…The house was begun in 1950 and was built by Rudy and Ruth McLaughlin. Rudy was a long-haul truck driver who told his wife he would build her a castle – and did! It was heavy work — mortar and concrete for the roof was lifted in five-gallon buckets.
To add even more mystique around the castle, the home is surrounded by a wrought iron fence featuring gnomes (also known as dwarves, leading to the nickname “The Dwarf Castle”), a moat, which doubles as a swimming pool, and a drawbridge which leads to the two-car garage.
Okay, I’ve got to go check this out! Where can I find it?

Address: 12570 Arnold Mill Rd Alpharetta, GA 30004
Cagel Castle is a local legend for sure, but remember: it is private property. To date, the homeowners do not allow visitors or tourists to come onto their property, so make sure you just take a look from a respectful distance from the road!
