Ready for some classic Southern dishes, look no further than Johnny’s Chicken and Waffles. This restaurant has been a consistent hit at the original location in College Park near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Now it’s Midtown’s turn to get a taste! This growing restaurant is set to open its second location in June at 1050 Crescent Ave. NE.
Ne-Yo attributes the success of the restaurant to the “two things all Atlantans love—delicious chicken and waffles and our unsurpassed homegrown music scene.” He is definitely on to something. Southerners love their chicken and waffle’s it’s the perfect combination. Guests will have the option to enjoy the classic dish or the option to customize it. Visitors will be able to mix and match proteins and sauces.
In addition to their classic dish, the menu also includes a mouthwatering array of brunch and dinner options as well as starters, salads, and sides including Johnny’s award-winning mac and cheese. No dish is complete without a craft cocktail and they have those in spades. Their signature drink includes the popular BMore Careful (rum, blue curacao, pineapple juice, lime juice, and Henny floater) – created by local celebrity Tammy Riveria.
Chef Crystal Smith also curated her own take on the spicy margarita (tequila, triple sec, pineapple juice, lime juice, strawberry puree, club soda, muddle jalapeños, and a Tajín rim). For larger parties guests can enjoy the Ne-yo’s party punch that serves up to six guests. The new restaurant will be able to hold 85 guests and will showcase platinum albums from such famous Atlanta-bred artists as Ne-Yo, OutKast, Ludacris, and Usher as well as neon signage that reads “Everyday I’m Wafflin’” and original artwork including a mural of Harlem’s Apollo Theater.
