If you’re looking for a hilarious way to get into the holiday spirit, look no further than Dad’s Garage!
Yes! Atlanta’s beloved improv theatre, Dad’s Garage, is a non-profit theatre in Old Fourth Ward. The theatre has been a well-loved community spot since 1995, with a company that is dedicated to bringing people together through laughter.
Dad’s Garage states on their website, “Dad’s Garage serves a younger demographic not typically served by traditional arts organizations. We introduce them to other arts organizations like The Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Opera, and Atlanta Ballet through strategic programming collaborations. We’ve established ourselves as a “Gateway Drug to the Arts,” and are dedicated to building a new generation of arts consumers.”
So what’s their holiday show like?
One of the most impressive and hilarious shows of the year is Dad’s Garage’s rendition of the classic Christmas story, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
Every year, the cast “rehearses a (relatively) faithful” version of the well-known story and then… adds a twist! Every night of the show, the story is “invaded” by a random character, which is a surprise to the cast and audience alike! Then the cast must continue to tell the story of A Christmas Carol, while incorporating that new character.
This means that Scrooge might meet Jack Skellington, Ted Lasso, Ursula the Sea Witch… or anyone else.
The show is always a riotous good time for both the audience and the cast.
Dates: December 1st – December 30th, 2023
