It’s time to sashay to the vaccination center!
Drag Out The Vote has teamed up with The New Georgia Project for their first event of the year! This virtual text bank will support minority communities during the vaccination rollout for COVID-19. Minority communities in Georgia have faced extreme difficulties in accessing the vaccine, so the two non-profits will be working together to encourage all to get vaccinated! Nonpartisan The New Georgia Project encourages voting registration and civil engagement for Georgians. Georgia’s population is growing and becoming increasingly diverse.
Over the past decade, the population of Georgia increased 18%. The New American Majority – people of color, those 18 to 29 years of age, and unmarried women – is a significant part of that growth The New American Majority makes up 62% of the voting age population in Georgia, but they are only 53% of registered voters.

Drag Out The Vote is also a nonpartisan, nonprofit that works with drag performers to promote participation in democracy!
They’ve called on RuPaul’s Drag Race’s Brita Filter and Atlanta’s own SHI for drag performances and some extra fabulous encouragement to get the vaccine, so you’ll be in excellent hands throughout the event.
The New Georgia Project and Drag Out The Vote will text voters of color on Wednesday, April 28th. Register here for an evening of dragtastic activism, as they encourage voters to sashay to a vaccination site!
