You do not want to miss Electrifying Design: A Century of Lighting!
Electrifying Design: A Century of Lighting is a new exhibit at Atlanta’s HIGH Museum of Art. The exhibition emphasizes lighting’s role in propelling innovation in design and art. Electrifying Design demonstrates that lighting is an integral practice in modern and contemporary life. The works in this exhibition stand at the crossroads of the history and the future of light, and lighting design.
The exhibit holds works that are illuminating the past and present, while revealing filaments of the ideas and forms that may potentially spark the future minds and imaginations.
Featured in the exhibit art duo Ralph Nauta and Lonneke Gordij, known as DRIFT. Their piece entitled Flylight is a treat for the eyes. Inspired by the natural phenomenon of Flock Murmuration in birds, the swarm behavior was translated into an agent-based software that was especially developed for this work. Glass tubes light up in an unpredictable way, just like a real flock of birds!
There’s this and so much more at Electrifying Design: A Century of Lighting, now at Atlanta’s HIGH Museum of Art. The exhibition will be running through September 26, 2021.
What are you waiting for Atlanta? The HIGH has so much going on this summer, including this exciting Picasso exhibit, and this female-only photography exhibition.
