Calling all nature lovers! As we all know, Atlanta’s go-to museum to learn all about the natural world is Fernbank, Atlanta’s Science and Nature Experience.
And Fernbank is kicking off 2024 with some incredible new exhibits! To begin their year, they’re opening a brand new special exhibit all the way from The Australian Museum, “Spiders – From Fear to Fascination.”
What can I expect at this creepy crawly exhibit?
“Spiders – From Fear to Fascination will bring guests eye-to-eyes with over 250 real spider specimens. Guests will learn all about spider anatomy, reproduction and growth, webs and silk, spider senses and much more at this incredible new exhibit.
Fernbank says, “Using the latest in augmented reality technology to create a fully immersive experience, the exhibit allows guests to experience walking through hundreds of scattering spiders along a glowing forest floor, bringing an animated spider to life, and even competing in a mating dance-off with a jumping peacock spider.” Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
But virtual spiders aren’t the only creepy crawlies headed to the museum. Guests will also have the opportunity to safely encounter and view live spiders, including the infamously venomous Black Widow.
I’m in! Gimme the deets!
The special exhibit is open at Fernbank from Feb. 10 – May 5, 2024.
Address: Fernbank Museum, 767 Clifton Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30307
