Why is July’s full moon called the Buck Moon?
The Buck Moon is known as such due to the season in which it occurs.
This is the time of year when male deer, also known as bucks, grow new antlers… hence the ‘buck moon.’ Every year, bucks lose their antlers, and they grow back in the summer, typically larger than before.
