We’ve got some amazing news for Georgia public library cardholders! Through a new partnership between Georgia Public Library Service and Google, library cardholders have access to free Google Career Certificates and the Google AI Professional Certificate.
Vice Chancellor for Libraries and Archives and State Librarian, Julie Walker, said in a statement,
By offering these high-level Google courses through Georgia’s public libraries, we are empowering patrons to gain critical experience with AI tools and earn credentials that employers recognize and value.

What are Google Career Certificates?
Google Career Certificates help students gain critical experience with AI tools and earn credentials that employers recognize and value.
According to a 2025 course graduate survey, more than 70% of program graduates in the U.S. report an improvement in their career trajectory within six months of certificate completion, such as:
- a new job or career
- promotion
- raise
Google Career Certificates:
The courses offered by Google Career Certificates include key competencies and job mapping, including:
- Google AI Professional
- IT Support
- IT Automation with Python
- Cybersecurity
- Project Management
- Data Analytics
- Advanced Data Analytics
- Business Intelligence
- UX Design
- Digital Marketing and Ecommerce
These jobs tend to have relatively high entry-level salaries and wages.
How do I sign up for a Google Career Certificate course?

It’s very simple! Head to Georgia Public Library Service’s’ website, and find the right Google course for you.
Then, just scroll down to ‘Request an Account’ and follow the steps! And don’t worry if you don’t have a laptop for the courses. WABE reports, “According to a press release, users of the statewide library system can check out laptops to access and complete coursework.”
How do I get a library card?
Any Georgia library card will work to sign up for the Google Career Certificates program!
You can go to your local library in person to request your card. Make sure you have some form of identification.
Anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Georgia can get a free PINES card or an online PINES ecard, which gives Georgians instant access to digital resources offered at your local library.
Note: ANY Georgia library card works for the Google Career Certificate courses. You do not need a PINES card. Atlanta libraries are not a part of the PINES network.
