How hot is it going to be in Atlanta next week?

Temperatures in metro Atlanta and north Georgia are expected to be some of the hottest temps of the entire summer, reaching the upper 90s, with heat indices in the 100s.
Here’s what 11Alive’s Weather Impact team predicts for early next week in the ATL:
- Monday, July 28th: Forecast high of 98° with a heat index around 104°. (Record high is 101° from 1952.)
- Tuesday, July 29th: Forecast high of 99° with a heat index around 105°. (Record high is 103° from 1952.)
- Wednesday, July 30th: Forecast high of 98° with a heat index around 104°. (Record high is 98° from 1986.)
How can I stay safe during this heat wave?

Overheating can be dangerous, and in some cases, deadly. There are lots of things you can do to stay safe during a heat wave. Here’s what the CDC recommends to stay safe during hot weather:
- Stay in an air-conditioned indoor location as much as you can.
- Drink plenty of fluids even if you don’t feel thirsty.
- Schedule outdoor activities carefully.
- Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen.
- Pace yourself.
- Take cool showers or baths to cool down.
- Check on a friend or neighbor and have someone do the same for you.
- Never leave children or pets in cars.
