A Hometown Rally Rooted in the “Day Ones” Spirit
Rapper J.I.D. is returning to his hometown, here in the ATL, for a one-of-a-kind halftime show release of his new track, ‘Hey Tony’ in collaboration with the beloved Frosted Flakes mascot!
J.I.D said in a press release,
Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes has always had a seat at the breakfast table when I was growing up, and Tony the Tiger has been in my corner since Day One. Reuniting with the brand to recreate the iconic ‘Hey Tony’ jingle draws on my own childhood nostalgia, and I couldn’t be more excited to come together to hype up the next generation with a soundtrack that motivates them to unlock their potential.
With Tony the Tiger’s longstanding history fueling sports on and off the field and J.I.D having played football growing up, the “Day Ones” Bowl Game is a true homage to the “Day Ones,” bringing together culture, community and music.
And that’s not all! This amazing showcase will feature a local marching band-driven pep rally and three games of 7×7 football between four local teams, each competing for the championship title!
But don’t worry–everyone’s a winner because all four teams will receive a donation from Mission Tiger—an initiative dedicated to supporting middle school sports programs by funding new equipment, improving facilities, and expanding sports programs coast to coast. The champion will be awarded $10,000, followed by $5,000, $2,500 and $1,250 for second, third and fourth places, giving all teams dedicated funding to expand their sports programs.
Oh, and all the participating athletes will also receive the limited-edition Tony the Tiger and J.I.D “Day Ones” merchandise and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes “Day Ones” cereal box!
When will J.I.D. perform ‘Hey Tony’?
Good question! Before the championship game, J.I.D will give an exclusive half-time performance of “Hey Tony” alongside other catalogue tracks for friends and family of the participants!
