Adored in Atlanta for dedicating his life to “The Beloved Community” in Downtown ATL, John Lewis made a lasting impact on our city. His legacy is present throughout the city, throughout the year, and this annual event encourages reflection, learning, celebration, and action, all centered around the life and legacy of the late Congressman.
There will be an array of activities and things to do at significant sites throughout Downtown Atlanta. Entitled Reimagine the Legacy: Honoring Congressman John Lewis, this touching program will be taking place on July 30.
Kicking things off will be a rededication ceremony at the iconic mural located in Sweet Auburn. At 11:00 a.m., the ceremony will end with the ringing of bells for 80 seconds, representing the Congressman’s 80 years of life on the day he was laid to rest and initiating a community-wide moment of reflection.
Other things to do include (but are not limited to) markets, exhibitions, business highlights, and more. For the full line-up of Reimagine the Legacy: Honoring Congressman John Lewis, click here.
