This summer, a brand new food concept from Atlanta’s star chef, Hector Santiago, is coming to the Ponce City Market.
You’re probably already a fan of Santiago’s delicious and highly-acclaimed local spots: Pura Vida, in the Poncey-Highland neighborhood and El Super Pan, in PCM and The Battery. Well, this summer, get ready for another incredible flavor journey at Santiago’s newest restaurant: La Metro.
What is La Metro?
Santiago plans to make La Metro like a traditional tapas bar, echoing the ones in the vibrant Spanish cities. Just like a traditional tapas bar, dishes from the day’s menu will be displayed behind a glass partition. Guests will order at the counter then dine at tall tables or on the ‘patio’ fronting the Central Food Hall.
Santiago says, “I fell in love with Spain and its vibrant food, wine, and culture many years ago… At Ponce City Market, we’re in the middle of town where it’s always bustling, and you can feel the energy inside the building. When coming up with the idea for this restaurant, a fun tapas bar felt like the right fit.”
The Menu
La Metro’s menu will revolve around cured and tinned seafood, many veggie-centric dishes, charcuterie and cheese, several meat and rice dishes, and more.
A selection of Pintxos, or, individual, bite-size snacks, will include: Artichoke Spread with bread & almonds, Padron Peppers with Majon, and Montaditos (bite-size sandwiches).
And as for the tapas, La Metro will offer iconic small plates like Patatas Bravas, Croquetas, Endive with anchovies, Garlic-crusted Little Gems, and Hongos a la Plancha (grilled mushrooms).
The menu will also feature Raciones, or meals that are larger than tapas, like bocadillos (sandwiches), Canelones (stuffed pasta rolls), Lamb with olives, Fidua (paella made with pasta), and seasonal paella.
But that’s not all! Along with this mouthwatering selection of eats, La Metro will also have a full-service bar for guests to enjoy!
The bar will have a heavy emphasis on Spanish cava, wines, and ciders, as well as selections from Portugal and the States. Spirits will include staples from Spain, like sherry and vermouth. Even classic cocktails will have a Spanish spin, like the Daiquiri Amontillado with sherry, rum, sour orange, & caster sugar, a Negroni with rum, vermouth, & amaro, and Brandy O.F. with Spanish brandy, citrus, demerara, & bitters. Beer will be sourced from local Atlanta and Spanish breweries.
Get ready to take a trip to Spain this summer, without ever having to leave Atlanta!
