A mega-testing site opens at the Mercedes Benz Stadium, serving up to 2,000 Atlantans a day
A new COVID-19 mega-testing site opened in Downtown Atlanta on Friday January 14. The Mercedes Benz Stadium will temporarily become a testing center to help cater the demand for COVID testing.
According to a joint statement, the Georgia Department of Public Health, the Fulton County Board of Health, and the Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency are partnering up to open the site at The Home Depot Backyard at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
It’s located at 1 Backyard Way and will be a drive-up testing site. Located at the 11-acre park, it’s expected to serve up to 2,000 people daily. Its open Wednesday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Which means it will be closed on Tuesdays.
The omicron variant of COVID-19 is sweeping through Georgia, as it is throughout much of the rest of the country, and world. There have been reports of insane congestion near testing sites across the Atlanta metro area.
We recently rounded-up 15 places where you can get a COVID-19 test in Atlanta. We can now add the Mercedes Benz Stadium to the list.
