We’ve got some sad news for movie lovers in the ATL. The iconic IPIC Theaters location in Midtown Atlanta is set to close its doors–and soon. Keep scrolling to learn more.
When is the theater set to close?

The IPIC Theaters location at Colony Square is set to close on April 28th of this year.
Because the WARN Act requires companies to provide employees with a full 60 days’ or more advance notice of mass layoffs, the 28th of April is the soonest they could close.
Atlanta News First reports that the shut down will affect the company’s 163 employees.
Why is the Colony Square theater shutting down?
According to Stretto,
On February 25, 2026 (the “Petition Date“), IPIC Theatres, Inc. filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.
Right now, it is unclear if IPIC’s other movie theaters are shutting down or not yet.
