Monet once said, “Eventually, my eyes were opened, and I really understood nature. I learned to love at the same time.” It makes perfect sense then, for the immersive Monet experience to bring forth a multisensory Valentine’s Day special to the ATL, featuring romantic music, flowers, and chocolate to share with your loved ones. This February, proclaim your love at the heart of an audiovisual haven…
Commended works by Claude Monet
The soothing experience gathers its inspiration from the legendary artist that conciles art and love.
Monet always portrayed love through his depiction of nature. His garden in Giverny, France, served as backdrop for many a painting, transporting us into Monet’s most intimate moments. The artist once said, “I am following Nature without being able to grasp her, I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers,” a statement we can’t help but relate to his first wife, Camille-Léonie Doncieux. She passed away hours after giving birth to their second child.
“Camille on her Deathbed,” now highlighted at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, represented Monet in shock by this loss. Monet later went on to cultivate a romantic relationship with Alice Hoschedé, who followed him to Giverny where he would create his incredible oeuvre.
Love always inspired Monet to create in unexpected ways, to push the boundaries of art. Every brushstroke, every detail, is a testament to the love that carried him for years — through the loss of his first wife and the birth of his union with Alice.
Soothing live music evoking captivating themes
It isn’t surprising to see Monet’s work highlighted at this soothing multisensory Valentine’s Day Special that pulls at the heartstrings. To effectively depict the magical works of the artist, the Valentine’s Day Special features live music surrounding Monet’s lasting themes.
A talented string quartet will perform beautiful classical pieces, highlighting a wide variety of romantic songs. Renditions of “Happy Together” by The Beatles, “Married Life” from UP, “La Vie en Rose” by Edith Piaf and so many other swoon-worthy tunes will play as the soundtrack to this Valentine’s Day special.
