If you’re looking to have a truly one-of-a-kind experience, right here in Atlanta, you’re in luck! For one weekend only, Miami’s iconic Museum of Graffiti is bringing its traveling exhibition, “Sneaker Stories” presented by Modelo, to the Ponce City Market! From May 31st to June 2nd, you can step into an exhibit all about the historical ties and evolving relationship between graffiti art and sneaker culture. And the best part? This cool experience is completely FREE!
What is “Sneaker Stories”?
When you step into this Miami Museum of Graffiti experience, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a typical sneaker store… but look closer, and you’ll see you’re in an experience like no other! The experience works to highlight the many seminal crossover collaborations between graffiti artists and global commercial brands like Nike, Adidas and Reebok. This includes a selection of limited-edition sneakers displayed alongside their original artworks by artists including Futura, Cey Adams, Eric Haze, Claw Money and Faust, who have been tapped to create highly converted footwear that can sell on the secondary market for upwards of $20,000.
Impressed? So are we! You definitely don’t want to miss out on this totally unique experience.
There will also be a super cool panel discussion called “Fighting Spirit Stories” with Cey Adams, moderated by Atlanta’s own Dr. Dax. The panel will take place on Saturday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m., followed by a limited edition print release and signing.
Inside the Museum of Graffiti’s pop up experience
Inside the pop-up, guests can also expect to find Museum of Graffiti’s world-class gift shop, packed with limited edition collectibles, rare books and apparel. At the complimentary sneaker customization bar, courtesy of Modelo, each pop-up visitor can also become a designer themselves! With colorful new laces, charms and buckle plates, guests can personalize their very own sneakers.
