If you live in Atlanta, then you know how hard it can be to sit in traffic on Krog Street, waiting for someone several cars ahead of you to turn left. Well, that traffic jam might just be a thing of the past because, beginning today, there’s no left turn allowed on Dekalb Ave. Keep scrolling to learn all about the pilot program, and see what ya think!
What is this new ‘no turn left’ rule?
According to live reporting by 11Alive News, the city officially put up a ‘no left turn’ sign at the intersection of Dekalb Ave and Krog Street, hopefully alleviating some of the terrible traffic that piles up behind left-turners.
In short, northbound drivers on Krog Street will no longer be allowed to turn left on DeKalb Ave.

But wait… it’s not a permanent ‘no left’ zone?
Nope. This new law isn’t actually permanent, it’s just a test. Currently, the city is just gauging how this affects the flow of traffic, and if it actually helps with traffic jams and backups. If the pilot no-turn-left program is successful, the city will deem how to go forward from there.
Axios details why this new sign is important to ATL drivers:
Drivers waiting to turn left from Krog on to DeKalb Avenue toward Downtown cause traffic to back up, clogging the famous graffiti tunnel and creating crippling congestion in Cabbagetown… The intersection is a major crossing for Atlanta Beltline users and one of the few ways to access Cabbagetown from the north.

Okay, and what if I NEED to turn left?
No worries! Just don’t turn left on Dekalb (which helps you, too… since you won’t have to wait forever to turn)! All you have to do is go through the Dekalb Ave intersection and turn left on Edgewood Avenue to head Downtown.
Let’s see if this new law helps out, Atlanta! Stay safe and follow the new traffic laws!
