Atlanta’s NYE Peach Drop has been canceled!
Our biggest New Year’s Eve event, The Peach Drop has been cancelled. It’s anticipated return was scheduled to take over Underground Atlanta on Friday night to ring in the New Year.
Approximately 60,000 people were expected to attend the countdown to 2022, which was to be hosted by Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.
Atlanta hip-hop group Goodie Mob and Grammy Award-winning artist Ashanti were scheduled to perform. Unfortunately the event has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns, as the Omicron variant numbers continuously increase.
Underground Atlanta wrote on Instagram: “Due to the rising number of Covid cases, the City is canceling the Peach Drop at Underground. While we are saddened to miss this year’s party and musical acts, we are very excited to bring the Peach Drop back next year and better than ever. Stay healthy everyone!”
This is the third year that the Peach Drop has been canceled. It was canceled in 2019 to revaluate its future, and the coronavirus pandemic was cited as the reason in 2020.
