It’s no secret: here in Georgia, we’re obsessed with peaches. And it’s fitting, too, since our state fruit is the peach, we’re lovingly called the Peach State, and when comparing us to bigger Metros, like New York City (the Big Apple), we get called the Big Peach!
Now it’s almost time to celebrate our state symbol with a super fun Peach Festival, just a day trip away from the ATL! Keep scrolling to find out all about the Georgia Peach Festival in Fort Valley and Byron, Georgia.
What can festival-goers expect at the 40th annual Georgia Peach Festival?

A shared event between two cities, the Georgia Peach Festival takes place over three days in both Byron, Georgia and Fort Valley, Georgia (which are right next to each other!) The celebration happens in early June and celebrates all things peach!
Festival goers can expect:
- numerous events and activities scheduled to honor Peach Growers
- arts and crafts vendors
- fun kids zones
- delicious food vendors
- outstanding live music
- spectacular fireworks shows
And so much more! The official list of events has yet to be announced, but you can expect some real peachy keen times for the 40th anniversary!
How is the festival in two cities?

Since the Georgia Peach Festival takes place over three days, it actually spans two weekends… and two cities. The first weekend of the festival is June 5-6th, 2026 in Fort Valley, and the second weekend is June 13th, 2026, in Byron.

Yep! The Georgia Peach Festival is an award-winning festival, recognized nationally. In fact, last year, the festival won USA Today’s top 10 best ‘specialty food festivals’, coming in at #9 in the entire country.
But that’s not all! The festival is home to the ‘World’s Largest Peach Cobbler.’
And it USED to be home to the world’s heaviest peach. Pearson Farm in Fort Valley held the world record for the world’s heaviest peach in 2018, with a 1.8-lbs peach. Recently, a peach in Chiles Peach Orchard in Crozet, Virginia beat the record with 1.83-lbs peach.
Need a visualization? That’s larger than a softball!
