When it comes to weather, Atlanta sure knows how to be dramatic. Anyone who’s lived here long enough knows: Atlanta has three main seasons… bitter cold, scorching hot… and The Pollening. And it’s almost time for the pollen count to get ridiculous. But don’t sweat it! Keep scrolling for everything you need to know.
Atlanta actually has three pollen seasons…

When you think of pollen season in Atlanta, you probably think springtime. And we agree–the spring’s pollen season is usually the worst for people with allergies, and is largely agreed upon as the worst time for pollen-haters. According to the Sleep and Sinus Centers of Georgia, however, there are actually three main pollen seasons:
- Tree Pollen Season (Late February – May)
- Grass Pollen Season (Late April – June)
- Weed Pollen Season (August – November)
We’re about to enter tree pollen season–let us break it down for you.
The Sleep and Sinus Centers of Georgia says,
Tree pollen season kicks off Georgia’s allergy year with a vengeance, typically beginning in late February and lasting through May. March and April see the highest tree pollen counts—often exceeding 1,500 grains per cubic meter on peak days—making spring particularly challenging for allergy sufferers.
Oak and birch trees seem to cause the most trouble for allergy sufferers, with their peak pollen time being late March to mid-April. But the thick yellow pollen that seems to coat everything from streets to lakes to cars and beyond is actually less irritating, and is produced by pine trees.
The weather will also reflect springtime soon enough!

But it’s not all bad news in the ATL. Spring pollen also means… spring weather! Starting this week, you can expect some warmer temperatures. WSB-TV Atlanta’s weather team even predicts that “high temperatures this week will be well above average.” Warm weather is on the way, Atlanta!
And the Farmer’s Almanac actually predicts a warm, dry spring for the southeast!Pollen and warm weather? Hmm… looks like spring really is on the way! Maybe the groundhog made a mistake after all!
