There’s a captivating and emotional piece of art on display at the High Museum of Art, and you can be a part of it! The Pulse Room is a memorable highlight of What Is Left Unspoken, Love, an exhibition that’s currently on display at the beloved institution.
Artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer invites Atlantans to register their pulse using a sensor, that will transmit your heartbeat into a dancing spectacle of light. The lights will flicker to the rhythm of the participant’s pulse, and absorb it for future display. As more visitors visit, the record of previous heartbeats will be cornered, projecting an image of collective humanity that is both anonymous and communal.
What Is Left Unspoken, Love will be on display at the High Museum of Art until August 14, so there’s still time to check out this touching piece. But this room is just a taste of this unmissable exhibition that focuses on the language of love.
Organized during a time of social and political discord, when cynicism often triumphs over hope, this exhibition examines love as a profound subject of critical commentary. Featuring over seventy works including paintings, sculpture, photography, video & media art.
In other ATL art news, there’s a brand new exhibition at SCAD FASH delving into the illustrious career of American fashion designer Christian Siriano.
