Raven Cliff Falls Trail
A scenic, beautiful hike to one of the most popular waterfalls in Georgia, Raven Cliff Falls is perfect for hikers of all kinds.
According to Atlanta Trails,
Shaded by towering hardwoods, the Raven Cliff Wilderness is home to a tumbling trout steam bordered by vibrant green patches of moss and abundant wildflowers. And packed with beautiful, cascading waterfalls, the Raven Cliff Falls Trail is one of the most beautiful (and most popular) hiking trails in North Georgia.
At the end of the trail, you’ll get to marvel at a gorgeous cascading waterfall that cuts through a 40-foot-tall cliffside. Truly breathtaking.
How hard is this hike?
Raven Cliff Falls is fairly popular for all kinds of hikers. The trail is considered relatively moderate. If you’re looking for a super hard hike or a paved nature trail… this probably isn’t the hike for you.
The whole hike is 4.9 miles roundtrip.
Is there a spot to swim?
Yes! Bring your swimsuit, because there is a small swimming hole, just down a short side trail near the campsite.
It is a notable favorite of labradors and other adorable water-loving pups on the trail!
Is there a spot to camp?
Yes! Just down the side trail is a free, first-come first-claimed campsite.
Safety notes
This is a popular trail, and many people hike it year round, however, it is also in the heart of bear country. This wilderness area is a frequent black bear spotting sight, so be sure to keep all food items and fragrant cosmetics out of reach in a bear canister.
The trail also states: “Slippery rocks and fast moving water can be extremely dangerous! Please don’t climb, stand on, swim near, or jump from any waterfall.”
