Major League Rugby has steadily risen in popularity in North America over the past six years, and we’re excited that Atlanta is contributing to this momentum! One of 12 US teams in the league, Rugby ATL has been proudly representing the community of Atlanta, or as they’ve coined the city, “The North Star of the South.”
Founded in 2019, Rugby ATL won the 2021 Eastern Conference Major League Rugby Championship and continues to take the league by storm. The team upholds four main values – people, accountability, change and execution – and is deeply tied to its Atlanta roots.

The 2023 Major League Rugby season began in late February, but it’s not over yet! Rugby ATL still has a series of matches lined up from now until late June, including three home games at Silverbacks Park. On Saturday, May 20, the team will play the Dallas Jackals at 12pm. The game is themed ‘Military and First Responder Appreciation Day’ in honor of those who serve our country and help keep us safe and healthy.
Off the field, Rugby ATL has created a foundation with the goal of empowering under-served youth in the community via cultural and athletic education. Through the Rugby ATL Foundation, the team volunteers both time and resources to help develop future leaders using their core values. To support this initiative, the foundation has partnered with a number of organizations including Marietta Food Bank and the Children’s Hospital of Atlanta.
