Their most popular experience is the Plains Express. Travel from Georgia Veterans State Park travel through the rolling farm lands of southern Georgia to President Jimmy Carter’s hometown of Plains, Georgia. Explore the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site Museum, the train depot Campaign Headquarters and the Billy Carter Service Station & Museum. Prices differ depending on what class and services you’d like.
If you’re looking for something a little more immersive, try out SAM Railroad’s Murder Mystery Dinner Train. Enjoy a great dinner on the 2 hour round-trip, and see if you can solve the murder before arriving back at the station. For something a bit more family-friendly, Thomas the Tank even makes an appearance every now and again. There’s also so much more on offer at this unique attraction in Georgia.
Depending on what package and journey you decide to book, the train will take several stops for you to explore. However, the train does not always stop in every town. Depending on which day you travel, the train stops long enough for passengers to get on and off the cars, usually 5 minutes. Some stops are longer layovers for exploration, and there is some flexibility on occasion.
