As of 2:45 pm today, January 21st, 2025, it’s officially snowing again in Atlanta! As the flurries fall for the second time in just two weeks, we’re wondering: how much snow are we about to get? Will it stick? How cold is it going to get?
Well… keep scrolling to learn more about what we know about our second round of snow in the ATL this year!
First and foremost, it’s important to remember to take all safety measures when dealing with cold temperatures and snow/ice. This includes STAYING OFF THE ROADS, staying inside, and keeping warm.
If you or someone you know does not have a place to go to stay warm during the freezing temperatures and snow, direct them to the City of Atlanta’s warming centers, here. Warming centers will be open continuously from now until Wednesday, 1/22/25, at 3pm.
How much snow will Atlanta get today?
Of course we can’t know for sure exactly how much snow we’ll get, but according to meteorologists from 11Alive News, we could get as much as 1-2 inches in Metro Atlanta. And importantly, it’s staying very cold outside: so the snow that falls will stick around throughout the night.
How cold will it get in Atlanta?
Snow or not, it’s going to be dangerously cold in Atlanta tonight and tomorrow. With temperatures dropping into the mid teens, Atlantans should take all safety measures, and stay inside as much as possible. Limit exposure to the cold weather, and if you do have to go outside, really bundle up.
To keep yourself and your home safe, remember to drip your faucets. This will help prevent the pipes from bursting!
