Will you be able to see the eclipse from Atlanta?
Yes and no. In Atlanta, we will be able to see a partial eclipse. According to Eclipse2024.org, we’ll have an 85%** partial eclipse here in Atlanta. So even though we aren’t in the line of totality, we’ll still be able to experience the eclipse right here in the ATL!
**This means that 85% of the sun’s disk will be covered.
What time does the eclipse begin in Atlanta?
When is the solar eclipse? The partial eclipse will begin in Atlanta at 13:45:43 (that’s 1:45 pm). The height of the eclipse will occur at 15:04:34 (that’s 3:04 pm).

What is the path of totality for the solar eclipse?
The sun will be fully covered by the moon in several cities. The path of totality includes: Dallas, Texas, Little Rock Arkansas, Indianapolis, Indiana, Buffalo, New York, and Houlton, Maine.
If you’re looking for a trip to see the total eclipse, Little Rock might be your best bet. But it’s not a quick drive: expect about an 8 hour drive from Atlanta to Little Rock.
Where can I experience the eclipse here in Atlanta?
Stone Mountain Park
Get a great view of the Great North American Eclipse from the top of Stone Mountain. Stone Mountain Park says, “A limited quantity of eclipse viewing glasses will also be available for purchase.” Make sure you either buy or bring viewing glasses. Stone Mountain says, “you must use special eclipse safety glasses or viewers at all times during a partial solar eclipse.”
