A new study by Lemon Law Experts ranks the cities that Americans are most stressed out to drive in… and taking the top spot (rather unsurprisingly, we’ll say) is Atlanta. From bumper-to-bumper traffic to aggressive drivers, driving in Atlanta is definitely not a walk in the park. Keep scrolling to learn more.
The most stressful city to drive in

Atlanta is the #1 most stressful city to drive in… and we can’t really say we’re surprised.
The top 5 most stressful driving cities goes like this:
- Atlanta, GA
- Nashville, TN
- Philadelphia, PA
- San Antonio, TX
- Baltimore, MD
Lemon Law Experts states in their report,
When it comes to stressful conditions on roadways, it was Atlanta, GA, that topped the list with a stressful driving score of 99.40 out of 100. Drivers in Georgia’s capital city are the most likely in the U.S. to take a longer route to avoid traffic. Coming in second place is Nashville, TN, (97.21) where nearly 1 in 2 drivers say they frequently feel stressed, anxious, or angry while driving.
What did American drivers find the most stressful?

Lemon Law Experts found that Americans were most stressed by these driving stressors, among other things:
- Heavy traffic and congestion
- Aggressive lane changing
- Distracted drivers (phones)
- Potholes and poor road conditions
- Tailgaters
- High gas prices
How can I stay safe and stress-free on the roads?
Of course, staying completely stress-free on the roads in Atlanta might not be totally possible, but there are some things you can do to help out:
- Leave early/on time. The less of a rush you’re in, the less stressed out you’ll be!
- Pay close attention to the road. Seems like a no-brainer, but stay off of your phone (it’s illegal anyway), don’t mess with the radio/dials or drive distracted. Pay attention to the road and traffic around you.
- Leave enough space in between cars. Don’t tailgate other drivers, and leave space in between for people to merge/have enough time to stop.
