According to a new study from Thumbtack, a technology company that helps millions of people confidently care for and improve their homes, Atlanta is the 2nd sweatiest city in the United States.
What does that mean, exactly?
How did Thumbtack come up with this ranking? Well, they dug into the data from millions of projects across the country! From fixing central air conditioning units, installing a fan or portable AC unit or repairing a thermostat, they added up who’s trying to stay cool this summer, and Atlanta ranks among the top cities.
Here’s the ranking of the top 10 sweatiest cities in the U.S.
- Austin, TX
- Atlanta, GA
- Washington D.C.
- Dallas-Ft. Worth, TX
- Charlotte, NC
- Baltimore, MD
- Denver, CO
- West Palm Beach, FL
- Houston, TX
- Orlando, FL
What’s Atlanta doing to stay cool?
Well, unfortunately, we’re cranking our A.C. this summer. In fact, because of needing to use our air conditionings more, Georgia residents are paying an average of $75 more on their electric bills this summer. We’re also spending more time by the pool, trying to head to nearby beaches, and so much more!
There are lots of other ways to stay cool too though! Keep scrolling to see some of our recommendations:
- Rent a private pool for you and your friends! Wanna know how? We got you here!
- Get ice cream with your kiddos or friends!
- Check out some of these fun things to do indoors in the ATL!
- Go swimming in a natural watering hole or waterfall in Georgia!
So if you’re sweaty this summer, don’t worry… at least you’re not alone! It’s a super hot summer in Atlanta, and we’ve gotta make sure to stay safe and cool! Drink lots of water, stay out of the sun when you can, and make sure to take breaks from strenuous activity in the sun.
