The historic Tara Theater shut down in late 2022 is now set to reopen this Thursday, May 25! Moviegoers can now read this as a spot to catch a flick and enjoy a classic American pastime of seeing a flick with family, friends, or a date. Tara Theater will reopen as a “sister theater” to the Regal Cinemas recently taken over by Atlanta Film Society Executive Director Christopher Escobar.
For years movie lovers were able to take a step back in time and enjoy classic flicks alongside newer releases. In celebration of the grand re-opening, the theater will be showing four movies old and new. Movies to be shown include: 1963’s “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” starring Spencer Tracy and Milton Berle, George Lucas’ “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope,” Robert Zemeckis’ “Back to the Future Part II,” and 2022’s “Tár, which stars Cate Blanchett.
Tara Theater will add more movies to the list during Memorial weekend so be sure to check this historic reopening and grab tickets here.
