If you’re traveling this week for the Thanksgiving holiday, we’ve got all the traffic predictions you need to know. While these traffic forecasts might be a little unavoidable, it’s still good to know. So make sure you’ve got some snacks, a full tank of gas, and the perfect playlist! Keep scrolling for all the details on Thanksgiving traffic in the ATL.
When will holiday traffic be the worst in Atlanta?

Georgia Department of Transportation predicts the heaviest holiday traffic will be on Tuesday, November 25th and Wednesday, November 26th, from around 12pm – 6pm, and then again on Sunday, November 30th from 5pm – 8pm. For Thursday, November 27th (which is actual Thanksgiving), and Friday, November 28th, GDOT is actually predicting light-to-normal traffic and congestion.
What is GDOT doing to help with holiday traffic flow?
To help keep traffic moving during the Thanksgiving holiday, GDOT is suspending all lane closures on interstates, major state routes, and roadways near major shopping areas from 5am on Wednesday through 10pm on Sunday. This will encompass the entire Thanksgiving travel window.
Hopefully, opening these lanes back up and suspending construction will help keep traffic moving, and get you to your designation on time!
