As most Atlantans know, last February the CNN Center closed in Downtown Atlanta, leaving the building vacant for development. Well, that development is here, and we couldn’t be more excited about it!
The Center, a “do-everything, mixed-use destination to work, dine, watch, create, celebrate, and do it all” will fill the place of the old CNN Center. Here’s what we know so far.
What is The Center?
The Center is going to be your go-to spot downtown for… just about everything! You can expect a new food hall with tons of local restaurants, local coffee shops, cocktail bars, and so much more, retail, short-term pop-up events, and production space for film and media!
We don’t have a list of all the exact businesses that’ll call The Center home yet, but as soon as we know, we’ll let you know!
The Center’s press team says,
We’re putting a fresh spin on a legendary name, bringing an entirely new narrative, vision, and energy to downtown Atlanta. This transformation aligns with the city’s growing reputation as the premier place to live and a distinguished global destination.
How does this help the City of Atlanta?
It’s no big secret: Downtown Atlanta needs some revitalization. Just like Centennial Yards, The Center will only contribute to local businesses and entrepreneurs thriving in the city.
And, of course, it’ll help Downtown Atlanta keep up with the vibrant neighborhoods in Atlanta like Midtown and Buckhead!
Oh, and it the perfect spot for a food hall, since State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz are both right there! So you can head to your concert or sporting event after grabbing a delicious dinner and drinks… all within walking distance!
We’re so excited for the Aquarium, World of Coke, and Children’s Museum to get a new neighbor: The Center! And as soon as we’ve got more details on the when and the what, we’ll be sure to share them with you!
