If you’ve lived in Atlanta for any amount of time, you’ve seen the water boys. They’re the kids standing on street corners and intersections with a cooler full of ice-cold plastic water bottles, selling them for a dollar or so a piece. Atlantans lovingly joke that they’re fearless, and very persistent. But hey, when you need a cool drink of water, they’re usually there.
But there’s more to it than just that: conversations about Atlanta’s water boys have always included talks of the teens’ safety, poverty, entrepreneurship, and much more. And now, a new film all about life as an Atlanta water boy is coming out, and it’s got some big names in it. Atlanta’s own Quavo stars in The Waterboyz, which dramatizes the experience of Atlanta’s water boys.
