The SEC Championship will be hosted in Atlanta this weekend, and we’ve got some super cool celebrity news to go along with it!
This year, 28-year-old Timothée Chalamet will be the celebrity College GameDay guest picker!
What is a GameDay guest picker?
According to sportskeeda.com,
Guest pickers are invited to pick the winners of the games scheduled for the week on College GameDay. They appear in the show’s prediction part, which is usually at the end of each episode… [This invited guest is] usually a celebrity, prominent athlete, or radio personality associated with the host school for that week.
ESPN announced Chalamet as the GameDay Guest Picker to relatively mixed reviews.
While some people are clearly excited to watch the Oscar-nominee’s predictions, others wanted a more football-related picker. Or a more typical pick: someone connected to the host school for the game.
What’s going on with Timothée Chalamet right now?
At this point, Chalamet is a household name, especially after the Dune films came out. His most recent work, A Complete Unknown, the Bob Dylan biopic, will come out this year on Christmas Day… and is highly anticipated.
According to Bleacher Report,
Since A Complete Unknown is being distributed by Searchlight Pictures—which is owned by Disney, as is ESPN—what better time for Chalamet to get in some promotional work on the network than appearing on arguably the biggest College Gameday of the year?
Regardless of your opinion on Chalamet’s appearance as guest picker: the SEC Championship will be a fantastic game this year. If you’ve got questions about the game, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered there too!
