That’s right, folks! Decatur might be getting a brand new Trader Joe’s in the very near future. Trader Joe’s is keeping everything very hush hush right now, but with some investigation done by local Atlanta news stations, there’s enough evidence to suggest that the grocery store is headed Decatur’s way. And that’s not all. There might be as many as six new Trader Joe’s locations in the metro Atlanta area in the coming future.
Wait, gimme the scoop!
Tomorrow’s News Today Atlanta (ToNeTo Atlanta), reported, “At least one store was reportedly confirmed by the company, with another source close to the grocer telling ToNeTo Atlanta that as many as six new Trader Joe’s are planned for the greater metro Atlanta area over the next two years.” While unverified, ToNeTo Atlanta says it is “confident in its identification of at least two of the other sites including one near Decatur and another near Atlanta but are not publishing for now as we await confirmation.”
In fact, ToNeTo Atlanta reports, “According to a source close to the Trader Joe’s, the new stores planned for Georgia are: ‘in the Halcyon area of south Forsyth County,’ ‘in the Peachtree City area,’ 2 to 3 [locations] ‘in the Atlanta area,’ and one ‘in the Decatur area.'”
This would be a wonderful addition to any neighborhood in Atlanta, but especially to Decatur, where residents have been wanting a Trader Joe’s for some time. The current closest location in in Midtown, which, with rush hour traffic can be a 45 minute drive.
What does Trader Joe’s say?
Of course, we can neither confirm nor deny any concrete plans to move forward with the Decatur Trader Joe’s location. A Trader Joe’s spokesperson told Decaturish.com’s Dan Whisenhunt, ‘We are actively looking at hundreds of neighborhoods across the country as we hope to open more new neighborhood stores each year… At this time, we do not have a location confirmed in Decatur. We list all of the stores that are opening soon on our website.'”
Hmmm. We’ll see about that.
