Why is Waffle House increasing the price of eggs?
Waffle House sells eggs more than anything else on the menu (yes, even more than waffles!), so the rise in egg prices nationwide is a huge financial problem for them. In fact, following a report from CNN:
Waffle House serves 272 million eggs per year, making it the chain’s most-ordered item, surpassing hash browns (153 million) and even waffles (124 million).
And since its very first opening in Avondale Estates, Atlanta in 1955, Waffle House has served 4,658,468,937 eggs. (According to their website!)
Is the increased price of eggs at Waffle House permanent?
No. Waffle House calls this a temporary surcharge, and they’re monitoring the price of eggs constantly. They will return to their normal prices as soon as it’s possible for them to do so.
