Atlanta is known for its delicious cuisine. We’ve got tons of mouthwatering restaurants, including some of the top choices in the entire country! But along with all the good, having so many options means that we’ve also got some, uh, less desirable food.
And now it’s official: Georgia has a meal on Taste Atlas‘ list of the ‘100 Worst-Rated Foods in the World.’
What is Georgia’s worst food in the world?
It’s actually a pretty simple meal: the Luther Burger, which was surprising, considering some of the other dishes that made the list. (Maybe everyone feels that way about the food that comes from where they live?)
What’s in a Luther Burger?
There are only four ingredients:
- Two sugar-glazed doughnuts (used as the buns)
- Bacon
- American Cheese
- Beef Patty
What does Taste Atlas have to say about the Luther Burger?
With more than 1000 calories and usually over 45 grams of fat per serving, Luther burger is one of the world’s unhealthiest burgers, but its flavors and a unique combination of ingredients make up for it. The standard burger bun is replaced by a sliced, sugar-glazed donut (usually a Krispy Kreme).
Aside from that, Luther is basically a cheeseburger topped with bacon, and it is typically served without vegetables or condiments. Many people believe that it was invented at Mulligan’s Bar in Georgia, when the cook ran out of standard hamburger buns and used donuts instead.
We’ve got a little ~beef~ with this new list…
In moderation, of course, this doesn’t sound that bad! A yummy once-in-a-while sandwich can be a little quirky. And we think no one should knock it til they try it! What do you think? Does this burger deserve a spot on this list?
