Here are the specifics about Atlanta
Atlanta ranks as the 7th worst cities in the U.S. for traffic congestion, with a total of 75 hours lost in congestion (on average) each year. INRIX also reports that the cost of congestion per driver is a whopping $1,381.
The busiest corridor is on 285… but we’ve known that forever.
At the absolute worst portion of the morning and afternoon commute times, driver speeds average around 29 mph, which is one mph faster than last year.
How did INRIX come up with this data?

Here’s what INRIX says about their methods,
The 2025 Global Traffic Scorecard provides three years of transportation data for a more granular and holistic analysis of mobility within the world’s most-congested areas. It provides travel delay comparisons, costs of congestion to drivers and regions, and commuting trends based on the unique travel patterns within each metro area.
The Scorecard utilizes up to date, observed commute trips to truly analyze and compare how travel behavior differs in more than 900 cities across the globe.
Now. Are we surprised that Atlanta has some of the worst traffic in the world? No, not exactly. Everyone who lives in Atlanta has been stuck in horrible traffic before… but it still stings to see that we rank above places like Rome, Milan and Brussels.
