A 50 foot poetry light sculpture
Atlanta’s new sculpture shines like a illuminated wave on the top of a building, and you’ve gotta check it out!
Created for Dash Studio’s poetry project, this massive sculpture sheds light (literally) on the artistic innovations of our city. The clear dedication to historic preservation, mixed with the project’s keen nod at the absolute importance of clever creativity makes the Neon Peotry Project a shining beacon for future art projects in the city.
Nina Dolgin, Downtown Atlanta Inc.’s Program Manager of Art & Activation, says,
Our intention in commissioning this permanent artwork was to create a glowing beacon that represents our belief in the future of South Downtown.
What does the poem say?

The sculpture says, in large blue neon writing: “We begin with the end but do not end there” from Marietta-born poet Stephanie Niu’s poem, “Endeavour.”
The text selection for this year’s edition emerged through a unique collaborative curatorial process across multiple highly respected conceptual public arts organizations, including:
- Lostintheletters
- Dashboard
- Downtown Atlanta, Inc.
- Dash Studio.
Literary curators worked collectively to nominate and evaluate contemporary literature that spoke to the historical layers, cultural dynamics, and future-oriented energy of South Downtown.
Where can I see it?

The Neon Poetry installation of Niu’s poem wraps around the top of the building at 186 Mitchell Street.
You will see that the sentence wraps around the corner of the building, as if it will never end and may yet begin again.
It’s a permanent addition to the neighborhood — and a glowing one.
Don’t miss out, Atlanta! Check out this stunning new sculpture asap!
