Last year, we found out that Atlanta was getting its very own professional women’s soccer team, making ATL home to 17th National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) franchise in the country. And now, we’ve got the full scoop on the team’s look: colors, crest, and name! Keep scrolling to learn more.
What is Atlanta’s NWSL team going to be called?
The team revealed its name today: Atlanta City FC!
What are the team colors?
The team has five official colors, each with their own reasoning, all deeply connected to the ATL.
- Atlanta Red – “Red like the phoenix rising from the ashes. Reflecting a city that shines bright with resilience, passion, and the relentless spirit to rise stronger every time.”
- Georgia Peach – “Rooted in the same red clay that defines Georgia, Peach stands as a state icon. Symbolizing unity, warmth, and the shared pride of the communities that shape who we are.”
- Black Char – “Atlanta’s identity is forged in the Resurgens spirit. A place where even charred remains of the past are the very catalyst for the power and success of the future.”
- Platinum Metallic – “Representing excellence through cultural dominance. Platinum symbolizes strength and our resistance to tarnish. Always in pursuit of world-class achievement.”
- Dogwood White – “Dogwood blossoms symbolize unity and community across all four season and are deeply rooted in Atlanta’s identity.”
The team’s crest is also a phoenix, rising from the ashes, similar to the City’s official crest. Inside the phoenix’s body is the shape of an ‘A’, holding the city at its heart.
Where will they play?
The Atlanta City FC will play at Mercedes-Benz Stadium! The team will debut in 2028.
