Elana Meyers Taylor, a Douglasville native, just took home the Gold in the monobob, making this her first ever gold medal in the Olympic Games. She has previously been to five Olympic Games before Milan, however she this was her first gold!
Her American teammate, Kaillie Humphries, won bronze in the same event!

According to 11Alive News, Meyers Taylor said, in an interview,
My heart will always be in Atlanta. I’m a Douglasville girl.
She also says that, though her two sons now travel the world with her, they were also born in Atlanta hospitals, and the ATL is in their blood, too!
